Inhouse Day 2008

The students were welcomed from 9.30 hour by FRESH and BNO at the headquarter in Nieuwegein. After coffee and tea the program started with a welcome address, followed by the introduction of the day program. Subsequent to this introduction the participants of the Inhouse Day and some employees of BNO were introduced. Board member Jac Seelen gave a clear and detailed presentation about ‘project development in practice’. After a short break Robbert van Dinther of Ballast Nedam gave a further explanation about the organisation structure. In the afternoon there was an interactive experts carrousel. The Inhouse Day ended with a cosy appetizer.

Presentation ‘Project ontwikkeling in de praktijk: Het geheim van de smit” by Jac Seelen
After the welcome address and the introductions Jac Seelen gave a presentation about project development and notified specifically the vision of BNO. The development financials are divided between 25% residential constructions and 75% commercial constructions. The main objective of BNO is gaining profit by buying foundations and performing outbuilding. The ground foundations are being acquired by autonomous obtaining ground or by participating tender.

Description of organisation by Robbert van Dinther
During the presentation there was a through description of the several disciplines of Ballast Nedam. The two divisions Infrastructure and Construction & Development represent the main goals of the enterprise. The division Construction & Development can be subdivided in Ballast Nedam Development Business, Ballast Nedam Construction and BNBO Concrete Manufacturing Works. BNO is progressive in integrating maintenance- and management aspects achieving estate for a couple of years after exploitation. Moreover BNO created a scheme for decentralisation to accomplish a stronger sentiment among the locale market. That comes together with their ambition transforming the former product orientated organisation to a complete market orientated decentralized organisation. Robbert van Dinther spoke about the tremendous change in real estate inside BNO. BNO has the intention to compose a concept team that consists of a drafter, a plan economist and by project a project developer to strike out a concept. As to be readable at the website of BNO, the first steps have been taken, and the first drafter is already been appointed. The vacancy for plan economist is still unfulfilled.

  

Experts carrousel
In the afternoon there was the opportunity to participate in the experts carrousel. During four sessions there was the possibility to ask the experts of BNO anything about there business proceedings. Because of the diversity in experts; controller, project developer house building, project developer commercial real estate and senior project developer commercial real estate, the carrousel was very diversified.

At the end of the day, everybody could look back satisfied to an interesting day, with a divers and interactive program. The appetizer in attendance of employees of BNO ended this teachable day.

 

Inhouse Day 2007

The participants of the Inhouse Day were welcomed from 9.30 at the reception of the office of Ballast Nedam at the Ringwade 71 in Nieuwegein. The day was opened at 10:00 by Robbert van Dinther of Ballast Nedam. He welcomed everyone and gave the students a clear and extensive impression of the company Ballast Nedam through an interactive presentation. He gave a clear perception of the history of Ballst Nedam and the organization of the company at the moment. After his presentation Jac Seelen continued.

The presentation of Jac Seelen was very interesting and gave more information concerning the content of their business activities. At the end of his presentation their was enough time for students to ask questions and they gladly took this opportunity.

After the presentation of Jac Seelen, there was an excellent lunch waiting for all the participants. During the lunch everybody had the chance to talk one-on-one with the experts of the morning program and to already meet the experts of the afternoon program: Nico van Paridon (legal), Carina de Kock (housing) en Peter Klevering (Commercial). The fourth expert of the afternoon Jasper Leenders (Financial) unfortunately could not make it.

After the lunch the students were divided into small groups and each group got plenty of time separately with the experts to talk to them and ask them questions.

Nico van Paridon told the students everything concerning his job as legal advisor at Ballast Nedam. About how he got to work at Ballast Nedam, his daily activities and some special projects he was working on.

Peter Klevering told the students everything about his job as commercial developer. He told about many special projects, like a football stadium, about the problems a commercial develop can face during a project and the future of the business unit commercial development of Ballast Nedam.

Carine de Kock talked extensively about her job as a housing developer. About how she became an employee at Ballast Nedam, her developments within the company, the projects she manages and how she makes sure that every project she develops becomes a success.

After these very interesting sessions the participants and the experts went back to the presentation area, were there was an informal drink waiting for everyone. During the informal drink everyone was thanked for their contribution during the organization and during the day. Besides the delight of a snack and a drink, their was time for some last conversation with the experts.

Inhouse Day 2006

On Friday the 21st of April 2006 FRESH organised an Inhouse Day at Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij at their headquarters in Nieuwegein.

The Inhouse Day will started with a presentation of Robbert van Dinther, head of the HRM. He told us more about the company Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij. After that we had presentation “Are we fresh enough?”, which focussed on what’s hot at this moment in the market for a property developer as Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij.

After the lunch there was the “Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij Specialist Carrousel”. Four specialists will told the students in small groups who they are, what they do at daily basis, what problems they had and how they solved them and how they coöperate with each other. This Specialist Carrousel resulted in a very interactive discussion.

At the end of the day the discussion continued during the informal drink, where the participants could integrate with other employees of Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij.

Inhouse Day 2005

On Friday the 22th of April 2005 FRESH organized the Inhouse Day at Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij at their head office in Nieuwegein. The format of the day was a “specialist carrousel”. The morning was used for a general corporate presentation of Ballast Nedam, followed by an enlightenment of the difference between Ballast Nedam and Ballast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij.

In the afternoon, small groups of students were formed to meet with several employees of Ballast Nedam. These employees are specialist in the following fields: technical, financial, development / project management, real estate, law. Alle students were given the opportunity to speak with all specialists. In this “Specialist carrousel” the students got a good sense of the day-to-day activities of Balaast Nedam Ontwikkelingsmaatschappij employees. The day ended with an informal drink.
