Bouwfonds
Inhouse Day 2006
On Friday 8th of October, FRESH organized an Inhouse Day with ABN AMRO Asset Management / Bouwfonds Asset Management at their office in Hoevelaken. 25 students with different study backgrounds were able to attend the day.
The day started with an introduction by Mr. Van Hal, Corporate Communications of ABN AMRO, about the history and activities of Bouwfonds. Guido Bunte, portfolio manager (ABN AMRO Asset Management), Voas Brouns, director Research, Strategy and Take-overs (Bouwfonds Asset Management) and Maarten Vermeulen (Bouwfonds Asset Management) introduced the case with lectures about Real Esate Funds and Asset Management
The purpose of the case was to build a portfolio of a new European Retail Fund. The groups received market information from different European countries and economic expectations. They had to set up a strategy to invest a large amount of money in real estate property. The group presentations were criticized by a professional jury which consisted of Bertus Franssen, Maarten Vermeulen, Voas Brouns, and Jeroen de Grund. After two hours of research and brainstorming the students came up with investment plans for Scandinavian Mega Stores, retail in Eastern Europe or a focus on the United Kingdom. The group with the most promising and realistic portfolio won a price and celebrated this during the traditional informal drink.
